As people have been saying, being a woodelf or a khajiit will give you the best head start towards making an assassin/thief/Archer character. In all my years of playing Skyrim, I never realized the sign at Honningbrew meadery switches over to “Black Briar” Meadery after the thieves guild quest.

There so many better and easier ways to get gold in Skyrim. Khajiit start with +10 to sneak and +5 to alchemy, archery, lockpicking, one-handed and pick pocket. 0. I'm playing on Master right now, pure mage (only robes - no armor at all) and always have a tanky companion with me. Their night eye ability and unarmed perks give them an advantage in fighting in dark or tight places. I would like to create a player that is good at Archery, Sneak and illusion and if I'm lucky even destruction. I heard orc archer is very strong with a lot of damage output (because of the race power), it seems like a good plan, but I'm sure it's not the best option. It is a pain to augment Resist Magic, and even at upper levels, magic attacks will drop a player almost instantly. This is basically just my personal way of playing an assassin over the years.
